This act of vandalism is particularly disturbing as it follows closely on the heels of another incident just last week, where a deportation memorial in Moabit was similarly defaced with paint. The recurrence of such attacks on sites commemorating Jewish history and victims of the Nazi regime raises serious concerns about rising extremism and antisemitism within the city.

The use of chalk, while potentially easier to remove than paint, does not diminish the offensive nature of the act.
