Berri hails stances of Christian border towns after Netanyahu claim

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Monday lauded the leaders of southern border towns and villages, particularly Christian communities, for their firm stances against Israeli claims. He highlighted their unified rejection of statements attributed to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Berri specifically commended the municipality of Rmeish for issuing a statement that "rejected, denied, and refuted the false claims made by the Israeli Prime Minister." These alleged claims suggested a desire among residents of these villages to be annexed by Israel, a notion strongly denied by local officials.

The speaker praised the coordinated response from both municipal council heads and religious leaders in the districts of Marjeyoun and Bint Jbeil. Their collective statements underscored a strong local opposition to any territorial ambitions from the neighboring Israeli entity, reinforcing the sovereignty and will of the residents.
