Beşiktaş Fight Back to Beat Fenerbahçe in Istanbul Derby

Dusan Vlahovic completed Beşiktaş’s comeback with a 73rd-minute winner, giving his side a 2-1 victory over Fenerbahçe in an intense Istanbul derby.

Beşiktaş set an aggressive pace from the opening minute and forced Fenerbahçe goalkeeper Ederson into early saves. Fenerbahçe nevertheless took the lead in the 26th minute when Archie Brown’s long throw fell to Milan Skriniar after a weak clearance. The Slovakian defender scored from close range.

Beşiktaş restored parity in the 38th minute. Leandro Trossard played a through-ball to Rıdvan Yılmaz, who finished low into the far corner. Fenerbahçe almost regained the lead before halftime, but Mason Greenwood’s angled shot went narrowly wide after a solo run.

The second half remained open, with Ederson repeatedly denying Beşiktaş. He stopped Vlahovic in a one-on-one in the 57th minute and kept out substitute Ilhan Fakılı moments after Fenerbahçe goalkeeper Alexander Nübel saved Vedat Muriqi’s volley.

Beşiktaş finally found the decisive opening on a counterattack. Olaitan started the move, Orkun Kökçü carried the ball into the area and drew Ederson forward, then passed across to Vlahovic, who finished into the empty net. The result lifted Beşiktaş to nine points from four matches, while Fenerbahçe remained on six after its second defeat in four league outings.
