Bezzecchi spoils Ducati's centenary party with Italian Grand Prix victory

Marco Bezzecchi secured victory at the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday, crossing the finish line ahead of his teammate Jorge Martin in a race that also saw Aprilia's centenary celebrations at Mugello disrupted. Francesco Bagnaia, a previous multiple winner at the circuit, initially led the race until the final 10 laps.

Bezzecchi made his decisive move to take the lead, with Martin following suit shortly after, pushing Bagnaia down to third place. Once in front, Bezzecchi maintained his pace, ultimately finishing over three seconds ahead of Martin to claim his first win at the renowned Mugello track.

In a dramatic finish, Bagnaia's late surge prevented Aprilia from achieving a podium sweep. Ai Ogura, riding for Trackhouse, briefly held third position on the final lap. However, Bagnaia managed to retake the spot just before the checkered flag, denying Aprilia the clean sweep.
