Bhotekoshi flood sweeps away nine bank branches, 26 staff out of contact

A severe flood in Nepal's Rasuwa district has devastated infrastructure, sweeping away nine branches of commercial banks. The Nepal Bankers’ Association reports that approximately 26 bank employees remain out of contact following the disaster.

Machhapuchchhre, Nabil, Sanima, Laxmi Sunrise, Himalayan, Prabhu, Global IME, Nepal Investment Mega, and NMB Bank are among the institutions with affected branches. Association chairman Santosh Koirala expressed concern over the missing staff, noting that disrupted telephone services are a major obstacle to communication. "Many employees could not be contacted because telephone services have been disrupted," Koirala stated. "We have just received information that all Nabil Bank employees are now in contact. As telephone services gradually improve, we expect to reach the remaining employees as well."

The ongoing disruption of telephone and electricity in the affected areas is significantly hampering rescue and contact efforts. As services are gradually restored, the association hopes to confirm the safety of all remaining employees.
