Biometric analysis underway to identify child interviewed on TV as missing Loan Danilo Peña

Authorities are investigating whether a child interviewed on Paraguayan television is Loan Danilo Peña, the five-year-old boy who vanished in Argentina in June 2024. The Argentine Federal Police (PFA) are conducting biometric comparisons after Interpol Paraguay flagged the child's physical similarities to Loan.

An Interpol Paraguay request prompted the PFA's Interpol Department to analyze a recording of the television interview. Sources within the PFA stated that the child in the footage exhibits characteristics resembling Loan, and biometric tests are underway. This collaboration is proceeding through official Interpol channels, and Argentine judicial authorities overseeing Loan's disappearance have been notified.

Loan disappeared in the town of 9 de Julio, Corrientes province, while with family members. The investigation has been ongoing for two months, with the only certainty being that his trail vanished on a path connecting his grandmother Catalina's house to a nearby orange tree. Search efforts, including those using trained scent-tracking dogs, have focused on this specific area.

One dog handler described the "ground zero" area as encompassing both the grandmother's house and the orange tree, approximately 500 meters apart. The dog showed interest in the wooded area and the vicinity of the tree but did not establish a clear tracking path from the house. The ongoing investigation in Argentina involves a trial for suspects accused of Loan's disappearance and abduction.
