Biometric Passport Renewal Now Possible Remotely for Algerians Abroad

Algerians residing abroad can now conveniently apply for the renewal of their biometric passports from a distance, marking a significant step in the country's digital transformation of public services. This new online service was officially launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport.

The initiative aligns with the President's commitment to modernizing public services and enhancing the quality of administrative and consular procedures. It reflects the state's particular attention to citizens living outside the country and underscores the ministries' efforts to create a more efficient and accessible administration.

Initially rolled out at the Algerian Consulate General in Paris, the service is set to be progressively extended to all diplomatic representations and consular centers abroad. The process is designed to be simplified and secure, ensuring efficiency in handling applications.

Users can access the service through a dedicated online portal on the Ministry of Interior's official website. After creating a secure personal space, applicants can submit their renewal requests, upload required supporting documents, and track their application's progress until the passport is received. The system aims to streamline the often cumbersome process of document renewal for the Algerian diaspora.
