Birthday Boy Bjerregaard Slips Down Leaderboard at Danish Golf Championship

Lucas Bjerregaard, celebrating his 35th birthday on Friday, failed to maintain his strong position at the Danish Golf Championship in Kerteminde. After an excellent first round that placed him in a tie for second, Bjerregaard carded a two-over-par round on Friday. This performance saw him slip to a tie for 35th place, with several players still to complete their second rounds. His Friday performance included seven bogeys, though five birdies offered some recovery. Another Danish golfer, Thorbjørn Olesen, who was tied for 17th after the first round, also found the second round challenging. Olesen shot par on Friday, placing him in a tie for 43rd. Denmark has hosted a DP World Tour event almost annually since 2014, except for 2020. This year marks the first time the Kerteminde course hosts the Danish Golf Championship. The tournament features most of Denmark's top golfers, with Nicolai Højgaard being the only notable absence as he competes in the PGA Tour playoffs. The total prize money for the Danish Golf Championship has increased from $2.75 million to $3 million this year, equivalent to nearly 19.5 million Danish kroner.
