Bishkek authorities only care for themselves, capital's guests question

Visitors returning to Kyrgyzstan's capital after several years have expressed surprise at Bishkek's rapid development. However, they are disappointed by the city's uninspired architecture, describing the landscape as dominated by "gray, monotonous, boring high-rises."

Tourists also pointed out a stark contrast in urban maintenance. They noted that the areas surrounding the city hall are lush and well-kept, resembling a "magazine cover." Yet, just a short walk away, flowerbeds are sparse, withered, and abandoned.

The city is changing, it's visible to the naked eye. It's growing rapidly. But, unfortunately, the eye is not caught by any architectural features, gray, monotonous, boring high-rises all around. It's a pity. After all, Bishkek could have been turned into a fairytale.

"Officials only took care of themselves," the visitors wrote, sharing photos of the neglected areas. They lamented the missed opportunity to transform Bishkek into a "fairytale" city, suggesting that more could be done to enhance its aesthetic appeal beyond the immediate vicinity of government buildings.
