Bishkek Budget Revenue Soars Nearly 5.6 Times in Five Years

The city of Bishkek has experienced a dramatic increase in its budget revenue, growing almost 5.6 times over the last five years. This significant financial expansion was highlighted during a meeting of the city's mayor's office, which reviewed the socio-economic development of the capital for the first half of 2026.

For the current year, Bishkek's refined budget is planned at 47.8 billion soms. The city successfully collected 22.6 billion soms in the first six months, surpassing the set target by 115.1 percent, or 3 billion soms more than anticipated. This robust performance indicates strong fiscal management and economic activity within the capital.

Tax revenues have been a major contributor to this growth, totaling 14.4 billion soms in the first half of the year. This represents a substantial increase of 5 billion soms compared to the same period last year. Non-tax revenues also performed well, meeting 103.3 percent of their planned amount. City officials emphasized that increasing budget revenue and ensuring its sustainable growth remains a primary objective.
