Bishkek cinemas debut ethno-horror, Aitmatov drama, and DC film

Bishkek's cinemas are ushering in a new wave of films this Thursday, offering a diverse lineup that includes an ethno-horror, a biographical drama centered on the renowned Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov, and a new installment from the DC Comics franchise.

For those seeking thrills, "Kassandra" offers a mystical ethno-horror set in the early 1980s. A village healer, who helps women conceive, discovers a sinister sign on pregnant women's foreheads, foretelling future evil. The film explores her difficult choices between her gift and a curse. "Balam" is a detective story where a dying police lieutenant, Asylbek Kulzhanov, investigates the deaths of former colleagues, uncovering secrets he has hidden for over 20 years.

Superhero fans can look forward to "Supergirl," which follows Kara Zor-El's journey across the galaxy after her ship is stolen and her dog, Krypto, is injured. She teams up with a new ally, Ruthy, to seek revenge. "Koschei. The Secret of Living Water" is an animated film about Koschei's centuries-long quest for a bride, leading him on a perilous adventure. "Dreaming is Not Harmful" is a comedy about two unlucky young men who bond over basketball and decide to become sports agents, facing the challenges of a high-stakes world with wit and perseverance.
