Bishkek Swimming Pool Complex Illegally Privatized, Now Returned to State Control

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan – In a significant victory for state property rights, the Prosecutor's Office of the Oktyabrsky District in Bishkek has successfully recovered a valuable swimming pool complex. This facility, located within a state-owned sports complex, had been illegally transferred to private hands during the tumultuous period of the 1990s.

An investigation launched by the prosecutor's office revealed that auxiliary premises of the swimming pool, spanning a total area of 174.6 square meters, were unlawfully privatized between 1993 and 1997. This period was marked by widespread privatization efforts across Kyrgyzstan, during which state assets were sometimes acquired through questionable means.

Following the findings, the Prosecutor's Office took decisive action. Through the implementation of prosecutorial response measures, the state has now regained control of the property. The facility, estimated to be worth 32 million 840 thousand Kyrgyz soms, has been officially returned to state ownership. This successful reclamation underscores the government's commitment to rectifying past injustices and ensuring that state assets are utilized for the public good.
