Bishkek Unveils Monument to Ho Chi Minh

A monument to Ho Chi Minh has been unveiled at the Royal Central Park complex in Bishkek, in a ceremony attended by senior Kyrgyz and Vietnamese officials.

The participants included Kyrgyz parliamentary speaker Marlen Mamataliyev, Vietnamese Vice President Võ Thị Ánh Xuân, representatives of state agencies, diplomats and invited guests.

Mamataliyev called Ho Chi Minh an outstanding statesman and a symbol of the Vietnamese people’s struggle for independence. He said the monument represented both respect for a major historical figure and “a vivid symbol of the strengthening friendship and fruitful cooperation between the two states.”

Võ Thị Ánh Xuân highlighted the monument’s special importance to the Vietnamese people and thanked Kyrgyzstan for respecting Vietnam’s historical heritage.
