BJP MP Kangana Ranaut backs RSS-run schools in Himachal Pradesh

Kangana Ranaut wants Himachal Pradesh to introduce schools run by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh if the BJP forms the state government, calling the proposal “a good initiative.”

The BJP member of Parliament from Mandi made the comments after chairing a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee in Mandi. Speaking to PTI Videos, she said, “I would like such schemes to be introduced in Himachal Pradesh when our government comes to power in the state. It is a good initiative and should be replicated in Himachal too.”

Ranaut pointed to RSS-linked educational programs, including Eklavya Model Schools and preparation for the NEET medical entrance exam. She said they offer better opportunities to students in rural and remote regions. She also described the RSS as a source of national pride, saying it had established many schools and served the country during crises.

Her remarks came after West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari proposed establishing at least 1,000 Vidya Bharati institutions across the state. Vidya Bharati, the RSS’s education wing, plans to establish a presence in all 345 blocks of West Bengal over the next few years. Officials cited in the report said it currently runs 313 schools across 150 blocks and more than 12,000 schools and 10,000 Bal Sanskar Kendras nationwide.

Ranaut also responded to allegations from Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress that such initiatives could saffronise education. She accused the party of promoting anti-national sentiments.
