BJT demands proof for poll fraud claims

The Bhumjaithai Party (BJT) remains unfazed by the opposition's planned no-confidence debate, asserting that any allegations of fraud in the 2024 Senate election must be supported by concrete evidence. The party emphasized that while the opposition has the right to raise concerns, unsubstantiated claims are insufficient.

BJT MP Korrawee Prisananantakul stated that the government has a duty to provide clear answers if evidence is presented. He welcomed the opposition leader's remarks about keeping records of alleged wrongdoing, adding that the government should be able to prove its actions are not improper. BJT Deputy Leader Siripong Angkasakulkit expressed confidence in the coalition government, noting that there were no talks with other parties about joining the government. He also downplayed the significance of the upcoming no-confidence motion, scheduled for August 25, suggesting it would not pose a major concern for the government. He believes the opposition's allegations, including those concerning the alleged collusion in the Senate election, the HT-AI sports project, and the borrowing decree linked to energy transition, will be addressed in the next session.

Former Senate candidate Somkiat Khunmouksathit dismissed claims that Senate candidates were asked to sign resignation letters in advance. He stated that the opposition's claims were not more than individual accusations and questioned the credibility and possible motives behind them. Siripong echoed these doubts, suggesting that while people make allegations, they must first present evidence.
