Sources close to the Kremlin indicate that Russia is contemplating a significant escalation of its conventional missile attacks, potentially targeting Kyiv's core and infrastructure in other Ukrainian cities. This consideration arises as negotiation frameworks have effectively collapsed, leaving both sides at a critical juncture.

President Vladimir Putin has signaled his intent, dismissing the impact of sanctions and Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries and logistics. He stated that Ukraine "opened this Pandora's box" and should "be prepared for a counter-strike on your most sensitive sectors of the economy."

Despite US efforts to broker peace, negotiations have stalled. Russia believes that any outcome worse than the continuation of the war would be its defeat, fueling discussions among hardliners in Moscow for more extreme measures.
