'Blood libel': MK Lazimi demands probe into Likud MK after he compares her to Hamas

MK Naama Lazimi has demanded an immediate criminal investigation into Likud MK Nissim Vaturi, accusing him of serious incitement to violence. The demand follows Vaturi's comments in an interview where he suggested Lazimi's character would make her a suitable candidate for Hamas elections in the Gaza Strip.

Lazimi vehemently condemned Vaturi's remarks as "blood libel and incitement to violence." She argued that comparing a public representative to Hamas terrorists effectively marks them as a target and lays the groundwork for political murder. Lazimi stated that the "coalition of lawlessness" uses threats to disrupt their public struggle and urged law enforcement to intervene before it is too late.

Vaturi's words are blood libel and incitement to violence. When the deputy speaker of the Knesset compares a public representative to Hamas terrorists, he marks them as a target, and God forbid, lays groundwork for the next political murder.

In her statement, Lazimi accused Prime Minister Netanyahu and his government of placing a target on her back. She described a pattern of intimidation, including alleged actions by a politicized police force and threats from the attorney general and other Knesset members. Lazimi believes these actions aim to intimidate not only her but also the entire liberal camp and all government opponents.

This government has put a target on my back; it started with a politicized police force that beats me in the streets in violation of immunity, continued with an attorney general who threatened me and a Knesset member who called to shoot me in the legs just a week ago, and now this. It’s not me they’re trying to intimidate, but the entire liberal camp and everyone who opposes the government.

Lazimi further characterized Likud as a "bankrupt mafia" resorting to incitement and violence due to a lack of substantive policies. She asserted that the "Hamas coalition" is an asset that has transferred funds to Hamas and seeks to destabilize Israel's democratic regime. Despite these challenges, Lazimi vowed to continue her fight for Israel and its public, stating that they will not be intimidated or stopped from bringing about change.
