Blueray Cargo Owner Faces Sentencing in Customs Bribery Case

John Field, owner of Blueray Cargo, is set to face sentencing today for his alleged involvement in a bribery scheme within Indonesia's Directorate General of Customs and Excise. The case, which spans alleged offenses between 2025 and 2026, will be heard at the Corruption Court in Central Jakarta.

Field is accused of providing substantial bribes, totaling approximately Rp63.15 billion ($63.15 billion), to customs officials. These bribes reportedly included Singapore dollars, luxury goods, and entertainment facilities, all intended to expedite the clearance of Blueray Cargo's imported goods. Prosecutors allege that Field, along with Blueray Cargo's Operational Manager Dedy Kurniawan and Import Documentation Team Leader Andri, conspired to offer these illicit payments.

Prosecutors have requested a three-year prison sentence and a Rp300 million fine for John Field. Dedy Kurniawan and Andri face slightly lesser sentences of two years and six months each, along with fines of Rp200 million. The charges stem from alleged violations of Indonesian criminal law, specifically concerning the provision of bribes to public officials to influence their duties.

The alleged recipients of the bribes include several customs officials, identified as Rizal, Orlando Hamonangan, Fillar Marindra, Sisprian Subiaksono, and Enov Puji. The bribes were reportedly disbursed over seven instances. In addition to the cash, Orlando Hamonangan allegedly received entertainment facilities worth Rp1.45 billion and a Tag Heuer watch valued at Rp65 million. Enov Puji reportedly received a Mazda CX-5 car worth Rp330 million.
