Bluesky appoints Toni Schneider as new CEO

Toni Schneider is the new chief executive officer of the social media platform Bluesky, taking over from Jay Graber, who has led the company since 2021. Schneider brings extensive experience to the role, having been a partner at Ture Venturens for two decades and holding previous positions at companies including Yahoo.

Bluesky was established as a competitor to X, formerly known as Twitter. It gained significant traction, attracting millions of users, especially during the transition of Twitter to X. The platform's decentralized nature has particularly appealed to academics, scientists, and journalists, contributing to its popularity within these communities.

Currently, Bluesky reports approximately 44 million registered users. However, the company noted a 40% drop in user activity earlier this year. In response, Bluesky has adopted a new strategy and is implementing measures aimed at user acquisition and retention.
