BNP rally attacked in Baufal, 10 injured, dozens of motorcycles vandalized

A motorcycle rally organized by the BNP in Baufal upazila of Patuakhali faced an alleged attack by members of the Chhatra League and Jubo League, resulting in injuries to at least 10 BNP leaders and activists and the vandalism of dozens of motorcycles. The incident occurred around 8:45 pm near Dashpara Bus Stand.

According to police, the injured BNP members were admitted to Baufal Upazila Health Complex, while others received local treatment. The rally, which involved approximately 40 to 50 motorcycles, was reportedly organized by the union BNP from Banglabazar. It proceeded through several areas before reaching Dashpara Bus Stand, where the alleged attack took place.

BNP leaders claimed that 20 to 25 armed individuals, identified as leaders and activists from the Chhatra League and Jubo League, carried out the assault. Following the incident, the Upazila BNP Convener visited the injured at the health complex. Attempts to reach local Jubo League and Chhatra League leaders for comment were unsuccessful, as their phones were either switched off or unanswered.

Baufal Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sirajul Islam confirmed that police were dispatched to the scene and the situation was brought under control. He added that legal action would be pursued if a written complaint is filed after an investigation.
