Board disowns fake circular promoting Obi-Kwankwaso ticket

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has officially disowned a circular circulating on social media that promoted a presidential ticket involving former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, for the 2027 elections. The board has declared the document to be false and unauthorized.

The Board wishes to dissociate itself from the purported statement and wishes to inform the public that it is false, unauthorised, and as such, did not originate from the Board or the Office of the Secretary to the Board.

In a statement released on Friday, the CDCFIB, through its Head of Press and Public Relations, Okeh Juliet, emphasized its dissociation from the purported statement. The board stressed that the circular did not originate from them or the Office of the Secretary to the Board. It further noted that the document contained political undertones, which are incompatible with the official, non-partisan communication standards of the CDCFIB.

The fake circular, which appeared to originate from the Office of the Secretary, also referenced delays in the ongoing recruitment exercise, attributing them to administrative hurdles requiring ministerial clearance. It expressed hope for "visionary leaders" in 2027, specifically citing an "Obi/Kwankwaso under the NDC platform" as an example of transformative governance.

The purported document contains political undertones which is not consistent with the official, non-partisan communication standards of the Board. Members of the public are advised to disregard it in its entirety.

Rejecting this messaging, the CDCFIB affirmed the Ministry of Interior's commitment, under Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to institutional reforms and improved service delivery. The board urged the public and applicants to exclusively rely on its official communication channels for authentic information concerning the recruitment exercise and all other board activities, advising them to disregard the false circular entirely.
