Boban explains why he skips Dinamo matches and reveals Livaković’s rejected offer

Zvonimir Boban said Dinamo Zagreb offered Dominik Livaković a six-year contract, but the goalkeeper chose Barcelona instead. Livaković wanted only a one-year loan at Dinamo, while the Croatian club wanted a longer commitment.

Boban said he entered the attempt to bring Livaković back with too much sentiment and spent too long pursuing the idea. Once the move appeared unlikely, Dinamo turned to another Croatian-speaking goalkeeper, Dominik Kotarski, who had completed his medical examination and was expected to join the club.

The Dinamo president also addressed the team’s elimination by Viking. He said the result left a bitter taste because the club had hoped to confirm last season’s domestic double by reaching the Champions League, but he did not consider the defeat a failure. Dinamo, he said, must now do everything possible to win the league.

Boban argued that Dinamo looked like the better side over the two legs, but lacked the continuity, precision and concentration needed at decisive moments. He praised the team’s high pressing while criticizing lapses in the middle block. He said the squad structure is stronger than last season and expects more consistent performances from the players.
