Bodies of three more Bosnian hikers found on Elbrus, bringing total to five

The bodies of three more Bosnian hikers have been discovered on Mount Elbrus, tragically increasing the death toll to five. The victims were part of a group of five mountaineers from Bosnia and Herzegovina who lost their lives on the Russian peak.

Among the deceased are two alpinists from the Gorska služba spasavanja (Mountain Rescue Service), a doctor from the Cantonal Hospital of Zenica, and two members of the Vedro mountaineering society from Zenica. Two alpinists, Haris Adilović and Kemal Vidimlić, managed to survive the disaster.

According to the regional Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, the bodies of the three recently found climbers have not yet been evacuated, while the remains of the other two victims were recovered earlier. The ascent reportedly began under favorable weather conditions.

However, at an altitude of approximately 5,100 meters, the hikers were struck by a powerful snowstorm accompanied by extremely low temperatures and poor visibility, leading to the tragic outcome. Elbrus, standing at 5,642 meters in the western Caucasus, is notorious for its harsh and unpredictable weather.
