Bodrum initiative gathers 15,000 signatures against CHP leader Kılıçdaroğlu

An initiative in Bodrum has concluded a signature campaign titled "We Don't Want Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu in Bodrum," gathering more than 15,000 signatures from local residents. The campaign was launched in response to Kılıçdaroğlu's leadership of the Republican People's Party (CHP), which the initiative describes as being imposed by "absolute nullity."

Kılıçdaroğlu, like the AKP, is a trustee. He disregards the will of the people, the will of the voters, the will of the members, the voice of the base. Moreover, this disregard is shaped as a desire for imposition and dictatorship.

Ayhan Karahan, spokesperson for the Bodrum Citizens' Initiative, read a statement asserting that Kılıçdaroğlu acts like a "trustee" for the ruling AKP party, disregarding the will of the people, voters, and party members. Karahan accused Kılıçdaroğlu of exhibiting a "desire for imposition and dictatorship," even resorting to using state force against his own party members.

The people watched this atrocity live on television. These people do not forget. They record it in their memory," Karahan stated, referencing an incident at the CHP headquarters. He added that the public would not accept Kılıçdaroğlu's explanations about "independent judicial decisions" and "independent executive practices."

Karahan reminded attendees that Kılıçdaroğlu received 79% of the vote in Bodrum during the 2023 elections. "Bodrum has now said, 'I do not forgive.' Today is the last day of our signature stand. We have collected over 15,000 signatures so far. We will deliver these signatures to Kılıçdaroğlu in person," Karahan announced. He emphasized that the signatures represent the "heart" of the people and that they wish to "confront" him.

He will not swallow Kılıçdaroğlu's stories of 'What does it have to do with me? Independent judicial decision, independent executive practices…' Especially the people of Bodrum will not swallow it.

The initiative plans to deliver the signatures on July 10, coinciding with the lifting of the state of emergency in Ankara due to the NATO summit. The group intends to go directly to the CHP Headquarters on that night, anticipating a "historical moment" in Bodrum.
