Body Found in Vosges Forest, Assassination Investigation Underway

An investigation into suspected assassination has been launched after the discovery of a 77-year-old man's body in a forest in the Vosges region of France. The victim, who had a prior criminal record, was found by a hiker on Sunday near a forest path and a hunting cabin in Éloyes.

According to Épinal prosecutor Frédéric Nahon, the body exhibited "multiple wounds on the thorax, abdomen, right flank, and back, as well as traces of partial burns on the lower limbs." The autopsy confirmed that the wounds were inflicted by a bladed weapon, and the man also had a broken nose. Forensic experts are currently working to determine the exact time of death.
