Body with gunshot wound found near Guápulo in Quito

Authorities in Quito are investigating the death of an unidentified man whose body was discovered with a gunshot wound near the Guápulo area on the morning of August 7, 2026. The victim, believed to be approximately 30 years old, was found lying on his side on a secondary road in San Francisco de Miravalle.

The discovery was made around 6:30 a.m. by a resident on his way to work, who alerted others in the community before the incident was reported to emergency services. Law enforcement and forensic teams were dispatched to the scene to collect evidence and conduct an initial inspection. The body was subsequently transported to the Forensic Investigations Center for an autopsy.

The investigation is actively seeking to identify the victim and establish the motive and circumstances surrounding his death. Detectives are meticulously reviewing security camera footage from the surrounding area and interviewing local residents in an effort to gather crucial information. The Dinased (Directorate of National Investigations) is leading the inquiry.
