Bolivia announces upcoming visit by Kast, rescheduled after protests

Chilean President José Antonio Kast's planned visit to Bolivia has been postponed and is now being rescheduled, according to Bolivia's Foreign Minister Fernando Aramayo. The trip was initially set to occur during a period of significant domestic unrest and protests in Bolivia.

"We are finishing finalizing details to ratify the date of President Kast's visit to Bolivia," Aramayo told reporters. He explained that the visit "had to take place during the time when we had conflicts" in the country, leading to its deferral. The minister added that the Chilean president's arrival "has been postponed, but it is a visit that is already being rescheduled in these days."

Bolivia and Chile have a long-standing diplomatic rupture, with no ambassador-level relations since 1962, except for a brief period between 1975 and 1978. The rescheduling of Kast's visit comes as Bolivia works to stabilize its internal political situation following the protests that occurred between May and June.
