Bolivia Launches "BolivIA," Its First State-Developed Artificial Intelligence Model

Bolivia has taken a significant step in its digital transformation journey with the launch of "BolivIA," its first sovereign artificial intelligence model developed entirely by the state. The Ministry of Planning and Environmental Development unveiled the platform, which aims to revolutionize how public servants access and utilize national regulations.

"Today, we take a historic step in the digital transformation of the Bolivian state," declared Minister of Planning Fernando Romero during the presentation. A primary objective of "BolivIA" is to systematically organize and structure the country's normative framework. This will enable public servants to conduct consultations on laws, decrees, resolutions, and other regulatory instruments more efficiently and with greater order.

Romero highlighted a key feature of the AI: its reliability. "With this system, we reduce legal research time from hours to seconds, and something fundamental: it does not hallucinate, it does not invent, it only (presents) current regulations," he stated. This emphasis on accuracy and adherence to existing laws is crucial for a tool designed to guide official decision-making.

While celebrating this milestone, officials acknowledged that "BolivIA" represents just the initial phase of the country's technological advancement. They stressed that addressing all technological challenges requires ongoing development and collaboration. The government envisions continued progress in artificial intelligence through the active participation of universities, researchers, businesses, developers, and society as a whole.
