Bolivia launches national registry for real estate service providers

Bolivia has launched a national registry for real estate service providers amid complaints about rising fees and contract clauses that customers say may have been imposed without consultation or may be abusive.

The registry, created through Supreme Decree 5690, is intended to protect users of real estate services and promote transparency and legal compliance. The government adopted the measure during a ministerial cabinet meeting.

Companies providing real estate services nationwide must register, as must individuals who work independently in the sector without operating as companies. Registry information must be available through official digital platforms, with public access provided free of charge.

The Ministry of Sustainable Production, Environment and Water will oversee implementation, administration, updates, supervision and protection of the system’s information through its offices responsible for internal trade and consumer rights. Customers may file administrative complaints with user and consumer service centres under Law 453.

The ministry has 30 working days from publication of the decree to approve regulations governing the measure.
