Bolivian Government and Municipalities Unify Agenda for Upcoming Meeting

Municipal leaders across Bolivia have consolidated their priorities and demands to present a unified front at an upcoming meeting with the national government. The Federation of Associations of Municipalities of Bolivia (FAM-Bolivia) convened an extraordinary board meeting to forge a common municipal agenda ahead of discussions scheduled for Thursday, August 27.

Led by FAM-Bolivia President Johnny Torres, the meeting brought together directors, presidents of departmental municipal associations (AMDEs), and representatives of the Municipal Associative System. The primary objective was to solidify a joint position on critical issues affecting municipalities nationwide. FAM emphasized that the unity among Bolivian municipal governments is the foundation for developing a work agenda that benefits local communities.

Vicente Yujra, president of the Association of Autonomous Municipal Governments of the Department of La Paz (AGAMDEPAZ), reported that the meeting successfully defined the financial needs and priority projects for municipalities across the country. This collective effort aims to establish a cohesive institutional agenda for the upcoming talks.

Vice Minister of Autonomies Adrián Oliva confirmed that the government is in the final stages of preparation for the meeting with mayors. The agenda will focus on the distribution of resources, the advancement of municipal projects, and the overall strengthening of Bolivia's regions. Oliva noted that this meeting is part of a series of discussions initiated on August 5 with the nation's governors in Sucre, following a similar collaborative approach.

The planned agenda, referred to as the "50/50 agenda," signifies a commitment to joint work and shared progress between the national government and municipal authorities. The discussions are expected to pave the way for more coordinated development and resource allocation across Bolivia.
