Bolivian highway authority rules out road closures to valleys during long weekend

The Bolivian Highway Administration (ABC) in Santa Cruz has announced that there will be no road closures to the scenic valleys during the upcoming long weekend, which coincides with national holiday celebrations. This decision aims to facilitate the expected surge in tourist travel.

Authorities have stated that from August 6 to August 9, traffic will flow freely on the route to the valleys. However, normal restrictions will be reinstated starting August 10. These will include closures on weekdays between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM, and again from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. On Saturdays, closures will be in effect from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Sundays and other holidays will maintain unrestricted circulation.

In addition to managing holiday traffic, the ABC is continuing its road maintenance efforts across the Fundamental Road Network in the Santa Cruz department. Specifically, superficial patching work using asphalt mix is underway on sections of the San Javier–Concepción stretch, part of the San Ramón–San Ignacio de Velasco route. These ongoing repairs are intended to improve road conditions and enhance safety for all users of these vital transportation arteries.

We communicate to the general public and transport that, at the request of the authorities of the valleys and due to the holiday for the national celebrations of August 6, significant tourist influx is expected, therefore changes will be made to the restrictions on the La Angostura - Bermejo section of the fundamental road network.
