Bolivian Police to Get New HQ, Legal Reforms for Meritocracy

Bolivian President Rodrigo Paz has reaffirmed his government's commitment to strengthening the national police force, announcing significant investments and legal reforms. Marking the institution's 200th anniversary, Paz declared an investment of 80 million Bolivian pesos (Bs 80 million) for the construction of a new General Command building. He also mentioned ongoing studies for the El Alto Police Complex, aimed at improving infrastructure for citizen security.

The Bicentennial of the Bolivian Police represents an opportunity to consolidate a modern, professional institution at the service of the citizenry.

Paz revealed that Bolivia will incorporate advanced technology through international cooperation, with an investment of $20 million to enhance the police's operational capabilities. This move is intended to better equip the force to address contemporary security challenges.

Furthermore, the government will introduce five legal reforms focused on bolstering meritocracy, transparency, and institutionalization within the police. Paz emphasized that a strong institution requires clear regulations promoting professionalism and public trust, in addition to infrastructure and equipment.
