Bolivian prosecutor warns officials against interfering in Cerimedo investigation

Bolivia's Attorney General, Roger Mariaca, has issued a strong warning to high-ranking government officials and employees of public institutions, cautioning them against any interference in the ongoing investigation of Argentine consultant Fernando Cerimedo. Mariaca vowed that the Public Ministry would not be deterred by any pressure or attempts to obstruct justice.

"To those high officials of the Executive or any public institution of the State, who in one way or another want to block this investigation, who want to track my prosecutors in Santa Cruz and in Bolivia, let them face the consequences," Mariaca declared during a press conference. His statement comes amid scrutiny over Cerimedo's alleged connections and the level of access he reportedly had to Bolivian state officials and institutions.

The investigation is delving into Cerimedo's relationships with various individuals within public entities. Recent actions include the testimony of a lieutenant colonel from the Special Force to Combat Drug Trafficking (Felcn), who acknowledged knowing Cerimedo and having contact with him. According to Mariaca, the police official stated that Cerimedo had delegated security-related matters to him and even provided him with materials, including a drone.

Further details suggest the officer confirmed receiving a call from Cerimedo on August 17, the same day Cerimedo's former partner, Nadia Beller, was the victim of an armed attack for which the Argentine is currently detained. These findings are part of efforts to determine the extent of Cerimedo's connections and his activities while in Bolivia.

Cerimedo is currently in preventive detention at the Palmasola prison, facing charges related to the attempted femicide of Beller in Santa Cruz. While the government has maintained that Cerimedo held no formal position and lacked authorization to represent the presidency or presidential family, evidence gathered during the investigation has raised questions about his access to authorities.
