Bomb hoax forces evacuation at Xinmin Secondary School

Students and staff at Xinmin Secondary School in Singapore experienced a brief evacuation on Thursday morning after the school received a bomb threat. The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. in Hougang.

In a notification to parents, the school confirmed the evacuation and stated that the police were immediately alerted. Following a thorough search of the school premises, authorities determined that there were no suspicious items, and the threat was a hoax.

All students and staff members were accounted for and confirmed to be safe. They have since returned to their classrooms and resumed regular lessons. The school has contacted the police, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Home Affairs for further information.

This incident echoes a similar bomb hoax at Evergreen Secondary School in Woodlands four years ago. At that time, the Ministry of Home Affairs emphasized that such security threats, even if determined to be false, must be taken seriously.
