Boom Gorge Rockfall Cleared, Traffic Restored but Congestion Lingers

Traffic has been restored in Boom Gorge after a rockfall occurred overnight on August 1, according to the Main Traffic Safety Department. Emergency services and traffic police worked through the night to clear the debris from the Bishkek-Issyk-Kul road, which had been completely blocked in both directions.

One lane of the affected road was reopened around 5 a.m. on August 1, allowing traffic to resume. However, the incident caused extensive traffic jams, with eyewitnesses reporting queues stretching for several kilometers through the gorge. Motorists continue to warn on social media about significant delays, even after the road's reopening.

No injuries were reported as a result of the rockfall. The Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed that all necessary measures were taken to manage the aftermath of the incident. Despite the restoration of traffic, authorities are urging drivers to exercise extreme caution.

Drivers are advised to avoid speeding, maintain a safe following distance, and strictly adhere to the instructions provided by traffic police officers managing the scene.
