Boquete Gathers International Judges for Panama's Best Coffee Competition

Boquete, in Panama's Chiriquí province, is currently hosting the 30th edition of The Best Of Panamá competition, a premier showcase for the country's specialty and high-end coffees. The event, which runs until Saturday, will determine which coffee lots will be put up for international auction, attracting buyers from various countries eager to acquire the highest-rated coffees.

"All continents are represented. There are judges from Australia, the United States, Europe, and Asia. Panama today brings together the best in the world in coffee tasting," stated Ricardo Koyner, president of the Specialty Coffee Association of Panama. This international gathering highlights the global recognition and appeal of Panamanian coffee.

Koyner emphasized that the prestige of Panamanian coffee, particularly varieties grown in Boquete, Tierras Altas, and other Chiriquí regions, has established Panama as a world leader in the coffee industry. The country's success is further bolstered by upcoming events like the World of Coffee, scheduled for October in Panama City, which will convene global coffee sector representatives.

To mark the 30th anniversary of The Best Of Panamá, organizers honored individuals who pioneered early international coffee tasting competitions and significantly contributed to enhancing the value and recognition of Panamanian specialty coffees. The competition serves as a vital platform for promoting the quality of national coffee beans and connecting producers with international markets willing to pay premium prices for exclusive products.
