Border Guards Seize Over 28 kg of Drugs in Quảng Ngãi

Law enforcement in Vietnam's Quảng Ngãi province has apprehended two men suspected of transporting a significant amount of illegal narcotics.

The operation, led by the Central Region Anti-Drug and Crime Prevention Force under the Border Guard Command, along with provincial units, intercepted a pickup truck in Dục Nông commune late on August 21, 2026. The vehicle, displaying license plate 76A-400.87, was traveling from Đăk Pék towards Bờ Y and exhibited suspicious behavior.

When signaled to stop, the driver attempted to evade authorities by reversing and then accelerating away. After a pursuit, officers managed to stop the vehicle and discovered two red sacks in the truck bed. These sacks contained multiple packages of white crystalline substances and a bag of off-white powder, suspected to be drugs, totaling 28.5 kilograms.

The arrested individuals were identified as Nguyễn Nhất Nhơn, 32, from Gia Lai province, and Nguyễn Phi Long, 40, from Quảng Ngãi province. Forensic analysis confirmed the seized substances to be ketamine, methamphetamine, and heroin. Nhơn reportedly confessed that he was hired by an individual named Quang to transport the drugs from Đăk Long bridge area to Kon Tum city for a payment of 100 million Vietnamese dong.
