Bornova and Dura Sign Sister City Protocol

Bornova Municipality in Turkey has formalized a sister city agreement with Dura Municipality in the West Bank of Palestine, aiming to bolster institutional capacities and share municipal expertise. The protocol, signed after a year of diplomatic efforts and official approvals, seeks to build a lasting friendship between the two communities.

Palestinian students who are studying at Ege University or will come to our city are now our children, our trust. Our doors are wide open to them; they can benefit from all these technological and logistical opportunities free of charge by coming to our center.

Dura Mayor Mohannad Amro, leading a Palestinian delegation, expressed gratitude for the hospitality and highlighted the resilience of the Palestinian people. He stated that despite Dura's smaller population compared to Bornova, they aspire to implement similar social and technological projects. Amro emphasized the importance of continuous communication and dedicated commissions to ensure the partnership thrives beyond the initial agreement, underscoring the shared priority of the Palestinian cause.

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki extended a warm welcome, expressing deep concern over the humanitarian crisis in the region, particularly the suffering of children and youth. He drew parallels with Bornova's youth center, which provides essential services like meals, study spaces, and internet access, along with advanced technological resources. Eşki declared that Palestinian students in Ege University or those who will come to Bornova are now considered "our children, our trust," offering them full access to these free resources.
