Bosnia's FM Slams Serbia's Leadership Over BiH Relations

At the Third Ministerial Meeting of the Regional Initiative "Platform for Peace in the Balkans" in Antalya, Bosnia and Herzegovina's Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković delivered a strong critique of Serbia's leadership and its approach to relations with BiH. Konaković minced no words, directly addressing President Aleksandar Vučić and highlighting what he described as a lack of sincerity and respect.

We don't have to love each other to be good neighbors, but sincerity and responsibility are key to building trust.

Konaković emphasized that while regional countries don't need to "love each other" to be good neighbors, honesty and responsibility are paramount. He pointed to the recent joint press conference in Belgrade featuring Serbian President Vučić and Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, who has a final conviction for war crimes. "If you have a press conference, and you respect BiH, why did Vučić invite the convicted Dodik to stand with him at the press conference... Is that respect? Is that correct?" Konaković questioned, framing it as a direct affront to BiH's sovereignty and the pursuit of justice.

We cannot lie and expect trust. After all that happened during the war in BiH, which I call aggression, relations are damaged. If war criminals are hidden or glorified, we cannot talk about good neighborly relations.
