Bound body with bullet wounds found in Lampa, Chile

Authorities in Lampa, Chile, are investigating the grim discovery of a man's body found bound and bearing execution-style wounds on the side of Ruta 5 Norte.

The discovery was made Tuesday night when a passerby alerted Carabineros to a suspicious bundle near kilometer 31 of the highway. Upon arrival, officers confirmed the presence of a deceased male, believed to be Chilean, whose body was completely wrapped in a white sheet and tied at the hands and feet.

Investigators at the scene recovered a blue jacket with bloodstains and at least four pieces of ballistic evidence, including two shell casings. The victim, who was found without identification or a cell phone, appears to have sustained at least two gunshot wounds, according to prosecutor Alfredo Cerri of the Public Ministry's Organized Crime and Homicide Team (ECOH).

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to identify the victim and determine the circumstances surrounding his death. The presence of ballistic evidence points towards a violent end, likely involving firearms.
