Brandenburg lottery player wins nearly 1.9 million euros

A lottery player from the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in Brandenburg, Germany, has won a substantial prize of nearly 1.9 million euros. The lucky ticket holder matched six main numbers in the classic "6 out of 49" lottery draw held last Wednesday.

The player, described as a regular participant, has been playing the lottery for about ten years. In addition to the main numbers, they also selected the Spiel 77 supplementary lottery. The winning numbers for the main draw were 4, 6, 24, 26, 41, and 44. However, the player narrowly missed out on the top jackpot of 50 million euros, as they had the number 2 instead of the required Superzahl 9 on their ticket.

Anja Bohms, the managing director of Lotto Brandenburg, announced that this win makes the player the third millionaire from Brandenburg this year. The previous two million-euro winners were recorded in May. The 50 million euro jackpot remains unclaimed and will be rolled over to the next draw on Saturday.

The win highlights the potential for significant financial windfalls through lottery participation, even when the ultimate top prize is not secured.
