Brazil produces 5.84 million barrels per day of oil and gas, 5 times more than Venezuela

Brazil's oil and gas production reached a new record in June, averaging 5.84 million barrels per day, according to the National Petroleum Agency (ANP). This figure represents a 19.2% increase compared to June of the previous year and a 4.4% rise from May. Both oil and natural gas production set new monthly records.

State-controlled Petrobras reported its own record production of 3.34 million barrels per day of oil, natural gas liquids (LGN), and natural gas in the second quarter. This output was 14.1% higher than the same period last year. The company attributed these results to increased operational efficiency on its offshore platforms and the activation of 10 new production wells.

Overall production in Brazil, including Petrobras and other companies, totaled 4.47 million barrels daily in June, up 19.1% year-on-year and 4% from May. Natural gas production also hit a record of 217.3 million cubic meters per day, marking a 19.7% annual increase and a 5.5% rise from May.

A significant portion of Brazil's output, 82% in May, comes from the pre-salt fields located in deep Atlantic waters. These vast reserves are projected to elevate Brazil among the top five global hydrocarbon exporters by 2030. Pre-salt production in June saw a 24% year-on-year increase and a 4.2% rise from May. Offshore fields accounted for 98.1% of oil production and 87.6% of gas production in June.
