Breaking: Man charged with murder over death of 74yo Sydney man

A 45-year-old man, Corum Ash, has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a 74-year-old man in Sydney's west. The incident occurred early Saturday morning when the elderly victim was discovered on the side of the road near the intersection of Orchardleigh Street and Junction Road in Yennora.

The 74-year-old, a married father of six, had reportedly left his home approximately 30 minutes before the alleged assault. He was on his regular morning walk when the attack took place. Emergency services were called to the scene, where paramedics and police provided treatment. The victim was subsequently transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Following inquiries into the matter, New South Wales Police arrested Corum Ash on Saturday evening around 8:30 p.m. at a property in Carlingford. He was taken to Parramatta Police Station, where he was formally charged.

Ash faces charges of murder and causing wounding/grievous bodily harm to a person with intent to murder. The investigation is ongoing as authorities piece together the events that led to the fatal attack during the victim's morning exercise routine.
