Breaking: Man dies in hospital after bus crash in Perth's north

A 61-year-old man has died from his injuries following a bus crash in Perth's northern suburbs on Thursday. The passenger had been critically hurt when the driver of a Transperth bus lost control on Joondalup Drive in Wanneroo around 11 a.m. and collided with a tree.

He was initially taken to Joondalup Health Campus before being transferred to Royal Perth Hospital (RPH), where he passed away overnight. The driver of the bus, a 56-year-old man, also received medical treatment at RPH. A 59-year-old woman remains in serious condition at RPH, while five other passengers sustained minor injuries.

One passenger, a 26-year-old man, has since been discharged from hospital. Joondalup Drive was closed for a significant portion of the day between Burns Beach Road and Wanneroo Road due to the incident. Police are continuing their inquiries into the cause of the crash, stating the driver lost control "for unknown reasons."

Authorities are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage related to the accident to contact Crime Stoppers as the investigation proceeds.
