Breaking: Socceroos star allegedly tests positive for cocaine after speeding

Socceroos player Cristian Volpato has allegedly tested positive for cocaine following a roadside drug test in Sydney. The 22-year-old footballer was reportedly stopped by police around 1 a.m. on Friday, allegedly traveling at 109 kilometers per hour in a 60-kilometer-per-hour zone on the Anzac Bridge.

Following the alleged speeding offense, Volpato underwent a roadside drug test, which reportedly returned a positive result for cocaine. He was issued a speeding fine and his international driver's license has been suspended for six months, prohibiting him from driving in New South Wales. A secondary oral fluid sample has been taken for further analysis, and police inquiries are ongoing.

This incident follows an earlier stop by police around 11 p.m. the previous night in the same area, where Volpato was also allegedly speeding. At that time, he underwent a roadside alcohol breath test, which yielded a negative result. Football Australia enforces a strict drug regulation policy through Sport Integrity Australia, which can result in suspensions of up to four years for players testing positive for prohibited substances without a valid therapeutic exemption.
