Brekalo assists in Hertha's convincing win to maintain perfect start

Hertha BSC has made a stellar start to their new 2. Bundesliga campaign, securing a maximum of six points from their opening two matches after a convincing 4-1 home win against Heidenheim.

The Berlin club dominated the match, establishing a commanding 3-0 lead by halftime. Jonas Gronning opened the scoring in the second minute, followed by goals from Marton Winkler in the 26th minute and Derry Zeefuik in the 35th minute. Heidenheim, a recent participant in the Bundesliga, struggled to contain Hertha's offense.

In the second half, Heidenheim managed to pull a goal back through Tim Schoppner in the 55th minute, reducing the deficit to 3-1. However, Hertha's resilience was tested when Zeefuik received a red card late in the game. Despite playing with ten men, Hertha extended their lead to 4-1 in the 88th minute.

The final goal came from a swift counter-attack initiated by former Croatian international Josip Brekalo. After receiving the ball in his own penalty area, Brekalo advanced upfield and set up Prince Aning, who sealed the victory. Brekalo, who joined Hertha from Spanish club Oviedo earlier this year, has made 35 appearances for the Croatian national team.

With this second consecutive win, Hertha BSC positions itself as a strong contender for promotion back to the top flight of German football.
