Brennan wins second Vuelta stage as Pogacar maintains control

Matthew Brennan of Britain secured his second stage victory in the Vuelta a Espana on Wednesday, demonstrating his strong sprinting capabilities. The young rider, aged 21, was perfectly positioned by his Visma-Lease a Bike teammates, Wout van Aert and Christophe Laporte, to claim the win in stage five.

Britain's Matthew Brennan took clinical advantage of a high-powered Visma-Lease a Bike lead-out as he won stage five of the Vuelta a Espana on Wednesday - his second victory in his maiden Grand Tour.

Brennan finished comfortably ahead of Jordi Meeus of Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe. This victory follows his earlier success in the second stage, where he also outpaced the competition in a sprint finish. Brennan has now firmly established himself as one of the peloton's most promising young riders.

The young rider was set up beautifully by Wout van Aert and Christophe Laporte and he finished comfortably ahead of Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe rider Jordi Meeus.

Meanwhile, race leader Tadej Pogacar arrived safely within the main group. Pogacar had previously asserted his dominance with a commanding performance in the mountains of Andorra during the previous stage. He appears to be in a commanding position in the race for the red jersey, with Brennan emerging as a significant challenger in the sprint stages.
