BRICS Summit 2026: Delhi imposes traffic restrictions for motorcade rehearsal

Delhi will face extensive traffic restrictions during Sunday’s rehearsal for the motorcade ahead of the BRICS Summit. The exercise will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 10 p.m.

Delhi Police said two diversion points and more than 35 roads would be affected. Commercial vehicles will be prohibited from the ITO crossing and directed to IP Marg, DDU Marg and Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg.

The affected routes include major roads such as Sardar Patel Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, Akbar Road, Mathura Road, Janpath, Ashoka Road, Barakhamba Road and Tolstoy Marg. Traffic will also be restricted on Mathura Road and Tilak Marg. Vehicles traveling from Tilak Marg toward Connaught Place have been advised to use Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Sikandara Road.

Police listed diversion points at Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Janpath, Panchkuian, Minto Road and Barakhamba Road. Traffic from Patel Chowk toward Sansad Marg will be prohibited, although Ashoka Road will remain open. Separate routes were provided for New Delhi, Old Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations, as well as Indira Gandhi International Airport. Police urged commuters to use the metro wherever possible.
