Brother-in-law of Inés Gómez Mont arrested in Quintana Roo

Alejandro Mario Álvarez Puga, the brother-in-law of Mexican actress and television host Inés Gómez Mont, has been arrested by federal agents in the state of Quintana Roo. The arrest was confirmed through the National Registry of Detentions.

According to the registry, Álvarez Puga was detained on Tuesday evening in the hotel zone of Cancún. He is identified as the brother of lawyer Víctor Álvarez Puga, who, along with his wife Inés Gómez Mont, faces accusations of organized crime, illicit enrichment, and tax evasion.

The Attorney General's Office (FGR) reportedly links the couple to a network of shell companies. These entities are accused of diverting approximately 3 billion pesos (around $170 million USD) from the Ministry of the Interior during the administration of former President Enrique Peña Nieto.

Records indicate that Alejandro Mario Álvarez Puga has been transferred to Mexico City. He is expected to be presented before a federal judge at the Federal Criminal Justice Center in the Reclusorio Sur. The specific charges for which he was arrested have not yet been officially disclosed by the FGR.
