Brothers' Chiang Kun-yu overcomes slump, views team competition positively

Chiang Kun-yu, the stalwart shortstop for the CTBC Brothers, has navigated a challenging start to the season, marked by injuries and a slump in performance. However, he has since regained his form, demonstrating resilience and skill.

After struggling in the first half of the season, Chiang's performance saw a notable improvement. In July alone, he posted a batting average of .316. His season average, which dipped below .200 in late April, climbed to .283 prior to recent games.

They all had good skills to begin with. Seeing them play well makes me happy. They originally had good qualities, and they continue to try this year.

Chiang acknowledged his difficult start and the time spent on the injured list. He expressed gratitude for the support from the coaching staff, including former player and current team leader Peng Cheng-min, who assisted him during his adjustment period. This support was crucial in helping him find his rhythm upon returning to the first team.

During Chiang's absence, teammates Chang Jen-wei and Chang Shih-lun have also stepped up, particularly at second and third base. Chiang spoke positively about the internal competition, recognizing the inherent abilities of his fellow players. "They all had good skills to begin with," he stated, adding that seeing them perform well makes him happy. He noted that they train together and discuss infield defense details, fostering a collaborative environment within the team.
